Every 15 Minutes…

Every 15 Minutes…

The Prowl Staff

E15 was a real game changer. The overall message was not to drink and drive. The visual representations really tore me emotionally. Knowing that a someone starts their golden hour every 15 minutes, and knowing that the person could be me, really makes me appreciate life more. – Thrisha Reddy

Tomas Huerta, Features Reporter

By Tomas Huerta You may have noticed a box in one of your classrooms that supposed to help people in need. Here is the story of what it represents. Pennies for Patients is a fundraiser conducted by HOSA, one of our school’s student organizations. HOSA. The project raises money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to find better cures and vaccines. This fundraiser not only includes Weston Ranch but other schools across the county. The boxes in some classrooms provide a good way for students to help thousands of people in their fight against blood cancers. There are many school levels so students can grow with the program and have a greater impact on the lives of patients. The fundraiser not only helps find cures/vaccines for Leukemia and Lymphoma but also Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. There are more than 13 million students and 850 thousand educators in 27 thousand schools across the U.S. participate annually. Since the beginning, students have raised more than $135 million to fund breakthrough therapies and patient services, and more than $26 million in 2015-2016.
