The first Sonic The Hedgehog Movie came out in January 2020, with a hidden after-credits scene that showed the main villain, Dr. Robotnik, prepared to come back to the mainland after he was exiled to a mushroom land, stating that he will come back “by Christmas.”
Ever since that day, fans have wondered when the next Sonic movie would be announced. Finally, in February 2021, fans got their answer when the Sonic 2 title announcement was released, much to the fans’ excitement, with two characters from the games making their debut movie premier.
According to the early critic reviews, it is as good as the original Sonic The Hedgehog movie from 2020. However, it is more extensive as it involves two fan-favorite characters, Tails and Knuckles. This movie was a first for Tails and Knuckles, and it is supposedly the last movie ever to feature Jim Carrey, as he has stated that he will be retiring from acting after this movie gets released.
All in all, Sonic 2 is a long-awaited sequel that has enjoyed the weekend launch since this movie came out in theaters on April 8.
