Manteca Unified School District hosted its annual District Art Show in April. Competing against students all across the District, students at Weston Ranch had a most impressive showing.
The Manteca Unified School District Art Show showcases the “Best of the Best” work by students spanning 20 teachers and the seven MUSD high school sites. Teachers could submit 20 pieces into the various categories, ranging from fine arts to ceramics, digital photography, video editing, and graphic design.
Weston Ranch students collected 25 awards ranging from 1st Place to 3rd Place. Pat Windschitl, the digital photography teacher and mentor for these students, couldn’t be happier about the students’ accomplishments.
“This has been an incredibly difficult year for our students,” Windschitl told The Prowl. “They’ve had to adapt to new formats, learning strategies, time and time again. I’m very proud of how our students did this year in both class and the show.”
In addition to the 25 individual wins, Weston Ranch had two Best of Category winners, Juan Jacobo Gallegos and Bernardino Ramirez. Gallegos won for Graphic Design, and Ramirez won for Intro to Video.
Windschitl added, “Every one of these students has been working incredibly hard while dealing with stresses I couldn’t imagine. Through all this, they channel the stress and uncertainty and find an outlet in creating something new. It’s a testament to the arts that these kids could find a healthy outlet to express themselves.”
This year’s show is online rather than in person at the district office. The exhibit will be on the Manteca Unified School District website from May 10th through the 28th.
The Prowl salutes these category winners.
