Zinedine Valdez scored three goals and Alexis Chavez added two more to help Weston Ranch defeat Chavez High School 5-0 Tuesday night’s boys soccer game at Weston Ranch. The win improved the Cougars’ overall record to 7-3-2 and 3-1 in the SJAA.

“We played with great intensity on both sides of the field,” said head coach Francisco Cisneros.

Valdez’s three goals give him 12 on the year, and he leads the Cougars in goals scored. Chavez added goals seven and eight to his season total.

“It was nice to see Zinedine get a hat trick,” Cisneros added.

Defensively, Weston Ranch was led by Nava, Mauricio Morales, Aaron Martinez, Melvin Boateng, and the team’s newest member, Adrian Perez. Goalies Julio Torres and Edgar Leyva combined their efforts for the shutout.

Cisneros said about the defense, “James Garcia always finds a way to help out, and Perez provides great touch and speed at the fullback position. Mauricio and Eleazar did a fantastic job as well.”

The Cougars play Franklin High School tonight at Weston Ranch. JV will begin at 5 p.m., and the Varsity will follow at 7.
