Varsity Girls Volleyball Gets First SJAA Win
Weston Ranch Varsity Girls volleyball team beats Stagg HS, 3-1.
The Cougars won in four games 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-16.
“Getting the first win felt good,” said Senior Isabelle Mayorca. “It was a confidence booster going into tonight’s game at McNair.”
Senior Anisa Hekimian had ten kills and three blocks to pace Weston Ranch in its victory.
Keira Baptista had six aces, Mayorca had six kills, and Yaritza Jimenez had five kills and five aces to round out the stats for Weston Ranch.
“The program has changed dramatically compared to the past few years,” said Mayorca, playing her fourth and final year for Weston Ranch volleyball. “It’s a good atmosphere and good environment. We feel we’re getting a chance to reach our full potential.”
The victory was the first for the Cougars in the SJAA and improved their record to 1-2 and 4-5 overall.
Weston Ranch’s JV won their match 25-21 and 25-10 to run its SJAA record to a perfect 3-0. The freshman also won, defeating Stagg 2-1.
All three levels travel to McNair High School tonight. Game times are 5, 6, and 7 pm.
