Eleazar Nava had 20 assists, three kills, and six service aces to pace Weston Ranch in its 3-0 sweep over Central Catholic last night at Weston Ranch. The victory moved the Cougars record to 8-7, and it was their fifth win in a row.
The Cougars won in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-15.
“Tonight was a great team win as so many different players contributed to the win,” said an excited head coach Rebecca Kinlaw.
In addition to Nava’s spectacular evening, Abraham Palacios had seven kills and six service aces. Elijah Mobley added five kills. Maeson Bayot chipped in with four kills and two aces. Amari Dacus finished with three kills and got a service ace.
Sammy Seng had 10 assists for the Cougars.
“The back row did their job tonight by getting the ball to our setters, and Eleazar and Sammy set up their teammates for numerous kills at the net,” Kinlaw said. “Abraham, Maeson, Amari, and Elijah took control of the net and executed the kills.”
Tommy Duong paced the defense with eight digs.
Kinlaw added, “Our hitting and serving really fired us up this game, but the kills wouldn’t be possible without the hustle and determination of our back row players like Tommy.”
The Cougars will be back on the court against Lathrop High School tonight at Weston Ranch. The JV will play at 5 pm, and the Varsity will follow at 6 pm.
