The Cougars had their Late-Night Madness to reveal their teams to the community on November 8. The games consisted of a skills competition, a hot shot, and a 3-point challenge. After the games, the boys’ junior varsity and freshman teams played against each other in an 8-minute game. Then the men’s and women’s varsity squads played games among themselves.
The skills competition had Weston Ranch’s newest transfer from Lathrop High, Izaias White, coming out in a close win against freshman Israel Taula.
The Hot Shot game had teams of four compete in a game where they had to make a layup, a free throw, a 3-point shot, and then a half-court shot. The team that came out on top consisted of Tyre Turner, Yukaii Taylor, Timothy Dunham, and Dyana De Anda.
The 3-point shootout was a nail-biter. The championship game winners were Mateen Rafiq, Aiden Thomas, Manuel Ramirez, and Haven Trinity Urbina Thiery. After that, Mateen and Haven competed in a 1-on-1 3-point shootout with Mateen coming out on top.
This Late-Night Madness was a sneak peek at what Weston Ranch has in store for this season.
