WRHS’s MEChA club celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by performing in the quad during lunchtime on September 18th. They showed off their cultural moves by dancing Ballet Folkloric! The Dancers were wearing bright-colored skirts as well as wearing hats and boots. The Folkloric dance style is a wonderful way to show the history and culture of the country Mexico.
MEChA stands for “Movimiento Estudantil Chicano de Aztlan”. Which began out as a college club. The club is a student organization that promotes culture, history, and community engagement.
The dancers worked every day learned a choreography and were positive to perform for the staff and students. It was a great way to start the Hispanic Heritage Month!
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15. This is an awesome way to admire the glorious cultures and recognize the contributions of both Hispanic and Latin Americans.
Not only was MEChA a great way to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, but it was also an awesome way to show the students in the community how WRHS celebrates the importance of cultures and brings many varieties to honor.
