Winter Fest Wows Weston Ranch

This year’s Winterfest at Weston Ranch High School concluded on Feb. 10, and it was good to see the campus going all out, participating, and having fun.

Weston Ranch holds Spirit Weeks throughout the year to give the students a fun week and an opportunity to demonstrate the campus spirit and unify the school community. The school’s leadership team plans daily themes, holds lunchtime activities, crowns royalty, and hosts rallies.

This year’s Winter Fest theme highlighted eras from the 1970s through the 2000s. Walking around the school, you felt like you were in the age of what decade the school commemorated. The amount of school spirit from the students was truly incredible.

For example, Michaela Rugnao said, “80s day was awesome. The number of students I saw dressed up really made me happy because leadership students put a lot of effort into this year’s Winter Fest. Seeing people participating made it rewarding for the leadership team.”

Many schools participate in some winter campus celebrations. Still, the Cougars took pride in their winter fest and culminating rally last Friday, illustrating the amount of school spirit on the campus. Leadership puts a lot of effort into these events, and to see students participating in them must give the leadership students a great sense of accomplishment.

Some activities leadership might consider in the future are more interactive games like fake snowball fights, “big” Jenga, water pong, and a dunk tank. Also, they could have fabulous prizes like gift cards or prom tickets, school merch, and things like that. But the coolest thing they could fundraise for is a festival. A festival could bring students and families together, and people can socialize on campus instead of going home.

Winter Fest was a success because many people thought dressing up was fun because they stepped out of their comfort zone and got to dress up in unusual ways. There were many opportunities to make memories at this year’s Winter Fest, adding more fun to the high school experience. Students also got to see many people’s different perspectives on each theme to lighten the mood and make each day fun and enjoyable.

The Prowl congratulates the leadership class for a successful week of spirit.
