The WRHS JROTC Cougar Battalion competed at the Lathrop JROTC Drill Competition on November 6, 2021. The event marked the first time the Cadets from WRHS competed since February 2020.
In preparation, the Cougar Battalion’s cadets diligently practiced every day before school, during lunch, after school, and even during weekends at the park, and the hard work finally paid off.
C/CPT Criselle Daquioag led her Unarmed Platoon to the 1st place trophy, C/MSG Cesar Contreras and his Armed Platoon secured a 2nd place finish, and C/SFC Omar Diaz and his Color Guard team placed 2nd.
The competition featured a drill down elimination event with the last three cadets standing awarded medals. WRHS JROTC cadet Alejandro Loera won 2nd place, outlasting nearly 100 cadets from five JROTC schools – Lathrop, WRHS, East Union, Ripon, and Mt. Diablo (Concord). Cadets from East Union placed 1st and 3rd.
