Girls tennis wrapped up the regular season yesterday, playing at home against Oakdale. Yesterday’s match was the last one of the girls’ tennis season before VOL competition begins next week.

It was also Senior Day for the Cougars, and each senior was recognized and celebrated for their hard work and dedication to the tennis program. Coach Cerezo and the non-senior members took time before the match against Oakdale began to honor Sarisha Jacobs, Ekam Kaur (who played four years of tennis for WR), Chandni Singh, Parneet Kaur, Pawan Randhawa, and Bolu Laseinde.

“Not only did our players excel on the court, but they also excel in the classroom as well,” said an emotional coach Cerezo as he presented his seniors with small tokens of appreciation in front of the admin team of Troy Fast, Roland Davis, and Brett Lewis. Several members of our office staff also made their way out to the courts letting the team know they are unique and appreciated for being great student-athletes.

Overall, it was a great tribute to our talented tennis players and their teammates and their coach.

“Thanks to the staff that came out to support the team as the girls were surprised and very appreciative of their presence. It meant so much to them,” Cerezon beamed.

Despite the loss to Oakdale and W-L record, the girls showed Cougar spirit, dedication, and a “Can Do” attitude.

Coach Cerezo added, “They smiled, laughed, minimally cried, and determined to do better whatever the outcome was throughout the season. I’m very proud of them – a great bunch of awesome Cougar student-athletes!”

The VOL tournament will take place next week. The Prowl will update with times and locations as they are determined.
