Video Games Review

Playing video games is quite popular. Video game fever is high at Weston Ranch. To some, video gaming is a way of life, and that way of life begins a heated debate: Which games are the best to play?

Out of all the games The Prowl reviewed, we came up with the top five most played games out now that everyone is rushing home to play.

At the top of the list is Fortnite. The top game is Fortnite. Fortnite
is an online video game that falls under a genre banner that’s exploded in popularity over the past year, the “battle royale.” (mashable.com) Released on July 24, 2017, it’s a game where everyone is against everyone or teams against teams. It’s a game for all consoles.

“Fortnite is popular because it’s something different. It’s not like a first-person, shoot-em-up game. You get to watch the action from behind the players, like the third person,” said sophomore Darrin Williams.

The second top game out is GTA 5, and it was released on September 17, 2013. GTA 5 is an action-adventure where you are a criminal building up cash and trying to win over other people in a place named Los Santos.

Coming in at number three on our list is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Rainbow Six is a first-person shooter where you can either be an attacker or a defender, and the goal is to either get rid of all the enemies or protect the objective, a victory goal each team has at the beginning of each mission.

Number four is Minecraft. Released on 18 November 2011, it’s a survival-based game where you have a world, and you build with blocks to try to survive and finish your achievements.

Rounding out our list is Call of Duty Black Ops 4. It’s a newly released game and a first-person shooter. COD has lots of game modes to pick from where you must finish an objective.

Not making our list, but gaining popularity, is a new game called Apex Legends. Apex Legends is a severe threat to Fortnite’s popularity. Apex legends, a “battle royale” game borrowing concepts of the hero shooter, takes place 30 years after the events of Titanfall 2, and has hit 25 million players after one week, beating Fortnite current 10 million players, Both Fortnite and Apex Legends are online video games which fall under a genre banner that’s exploded in popularity over the past year, the “battle royale.”
