HOSA Giving Students Real World Experience

Ever wondered about life after high school? Ever wondered about a career in the medical field? If the answer to both questions is “YES,” then joining HOSA might be just what you’re looking for. HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a club on our campus which focuses on bringing the outside world of medical professions to our students who wish to explore these opportunities after high school and college.
Armeet Kaur, a sophomore, chose to join HOSA because she was curious about medical professions. “I learned there is a great variety of jobs in the medical field.”
In addition to the variety, HOSA also offers its members specific classes on campus for those wishing to focus on a specific career. “I want to be a registered nurse, and HOSA gives me the opportunity to study in the field I want to go into at an early age,” said Freshman Tia Boxton.
HOSA and its partner club be.Vital, is a great place to begin not only for your future but also to be part of a growing campus community. “It’s a great place to meet new people. We get to go to medical labs on Monday and Wednesday, so the chances to make new friends who share my goals is terrific,” said Freshman Allyson Pascual. The club also has a strong Social Media connection inside and outside of school, utilizing Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Freshman Destinee Santistevan oversees the Snapchat and she says, “Learning about the medical field is a great way to get involved on our campus. Snapchat helps us reach a lot of people and helps us connect outside of school.”
The club is run by Ms. Basepayne. “She is super inspirational,” exclaimed Kaur. “She helps us understand the requirements (must have 2.5 GPA, take specific classes, etc.), and she makes it fun to learn.”
