Ten years is a long time and for some of us it’s just the right time.

After 10 years, five as Weston Ranch Football Head Coach, Seth Davis has decided that it is time to step down from that position to pursue other challenges.

His last game as head coach was a rare victory in a roller coaster year for the Cougars. It was a high-scoring shootout 50-46 victory over rival Sierra High School.

In addition to football, Coach Davis has contributed to Weston Ranch as a Wrestling coach and a Campus Monitor. It should also be said he was a mentor and inspiration to kids at the school.

In Coach Davis’s final year, the varsity team’s starting quarterback and Junior standout Amier Bowen posted a new passing yards record of 2,556 yards. The previous school record was 2008. Bowen also led the VOL in touchdowns with 20. Wide Receiver Larry Fairbanks led the VOL with most receiving yards at 779 and receiving TD’s at 10. So, whomever succeeds Davis at the football helm, will inherit players and a chance to build on the ability to score.

Coach Davis tells The Prowl, “Once I leave, I’ll focus on completing my degree and be there for my three kids at home.”

When asked about his time at Weston Ranch, Coach Davis said the things he’ll miss the most are the hot August days of spending evenings with the team and his time with “the kids.”

Coach Davis said he looks back on his time at Weston Ranch, he knows he left it all on the field.

“It’s been a great ten years,” Davis said. “Dumped my heart and soul into the school and wish nothing but the best for our community and school.”

In his words and in his actions, Davis leaves Weston Ranch as a winner.
