On Oct. 1, a Las Vegas outdoor country music concert was the site of the worst single-shooter mass shooting in modern American history, according to multiple news reports.

Before Stephen Paddock, 64, was discovered firing custom-altered semi-automatic weapons into a crowd below at the Route 91 Harvest Festival from his room on the 32nd Floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, 58 people were fatally wounded and nearly 500 were injured.

Las Vegas law enforcement authorities have stated that his attack appeared to have been meticulously planned and researched, as Paddock checked into the hotel room days in advance, stocked the room full of weapons and ammo and set up cameras in and outside of his hotel room. Gunfire rang out from Paddock’s room for nearly 10 minutes.

No one currently knows why Paddock decided to spray gunfire on the crowd gathered for the Harvest Festival, however the authorities are hopeful that his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, will be able to answer some questions they have. It is believed that he acted alone, but a motive is still unknown.

Because of the mass shooting, President Trump ordered all U.S. flags – like the one outside of our main office – to be flown at half-staff.
