Too long of a break, right?

The Cougars might have thought that going into a bye week after their 53-51 win versus Bear Creek way back on Sept. 8.

As the Cougars travel to neighboring Lathrop today for the 7 p.m. “Battle of I-5” which is being revived as an MUSD rivalry.

If that’s not motivation enough, this is also the start of conference play for Weston Ranch.

“We’re ready,” said Cougars safety Norteno Moreno.

Quarterback Amier Bowen had been on a hot streak leading the league with 879 passing yards and 379 rushing yards since the start of the season.

Both the Spartans and the Cougars are 1-2 this season.

If the Cougars win tonight, the team’s morale could be at its best for the season.

When asked about the rivalry game with Lathrop, Bowen told The Prowl,  “It’s just another game. We should be ready.”

When asked if Bowen expects another great performance tonight, the QB said, “Yeah. Always.”
