The Esports team completed its 1st Annual Fall Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament on August 25 in Room 406. In a best of 5 GRAND FINALS match between Freshman Fernando Rodriguez and SR. Junior Alejo Barrada, Rodriguez pulled out a win defeating Barrada 3-1.
The season started with a friendly in-house Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament that spanned two weeks of lunch times. The tournament began with three rounds of pool play for 32 players. After these three rounds, the top two in each group moved to the “Sweet 16,” where the tournament continued in single-elimination bracket play. Games for pool play and bracket play through the top eight were “best of one.”
The top four contenders played in the best of three matches. The top two, Alejo Barrada and Rodriguez, played for the top spot in a best-of-five series. Rodriguez and his SSBU fighter, Kazuya, defeated Alejo and his fighter, Sora, 3-1.
