Weston Ranch High School celebrated National School Counseling Week, February 7-11. The hope was to help focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems.

“I love being a WRHS Counselor,” said WRHS counselor Daisy Carmona. “I truly believe that we have the best students, and they make my job fun.”

A school counselor’s job is to help students focus on academic, career, and social/emotional development. Hence, students succeed in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society (schoolcounselor.org). School counselors work tirelessly behind the scenes on the campus to provide students with resources from choosing classes, helping with career paths, and lending an ear whenever someone needs to talk. It’s a big job, yet it sometimes goes unnoticed.

“I enjoy and love being a WRHS counselor,” said WRHS counselor Samuel Gonzalez. “The Ranch has taught me so much and welcomed me as family. I am thankful for the fantastic students and staff. Together we will rise and make the RANCH one of the best schools in the state.”

School counselors mainly protect the mental stability of students, and they are doing an excellent job of it. They work hard to make kids feel comfortable and stable in a sometimes unstable environment. They treat all kids equally and believe that every kid is a gift.

“Working at WRHS as a counselor has been a blessing, overall,” said WRHS counselor Muang Saechao. “We have amazing students and support staff. I want to thank all the students and staff who have made my job exciting and challenging. Together we will rise and reach our goals.”

Everyone on the counselors’ team believes in the students at WRHS, and our school is grateful to have them here at school.

“I have been teaching and counseling teenagers for twenty-eight years and can’t imagine a better career,” said WRHS counselor Linda Wheeler. “I am continually entertained and humbled by the strength and courage of the young people I have worked with, especially here at Weston Ranch.”

Thank you to each of our counselors. Together we will rise.
