Beijing Olympics Ready to Roll but Safety Number One Concern

The Beijing Olympics will begin on February 4th in China. Although it’s always exciting for the athletes and the World, there is a good amount of focus on keeping everyone safe.

China has one of the strictest rules for the Covid and Omicron viruses. As a result, athletes participating in the Beijing Olympics must be very cautious and wear protection. If they don’t, they might catch the virus and be put in quarantine and eliminated from the Olympics.

China takes Covid-19 and Omicron viruses very seriously. Therefore, only people able to go are those who live in Beijing, follow the Covid 19 rules, and have their vaccinations. Other people around the World or anywhere else will not be able to go to the Olympics but will most likely watch on television and online.

Back in the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020, there were around 29 cases of Covid, and they were athletes who were going to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. I wouldn’t doubt that at least three people will catch Covid during the Beijing Winter Olympics. It is hard not to try catching a virus because sometimes it will just be spread onto you even though you are vaccinated, and the people around you aren’t sick. That is why China is taking the Covid rules very seriously, and all the athletes are not taking any risk, which would be the best option.

About 3,000 athletes will be participating in the Beijing Olympics, which the scary part about it is that they have to travel over to China safely and wait until the day the Olympics start. If one tests positive, the person tested positive will be eliminated from participating and be put in quarantine. It would also be demotivating and unfortunate because they trained their whole lives to get good at what they do, and it takes time and lots of effort. For it to be taken away because of Covid or Omicron can impact their mental state, and knowing you put in lots of time to be part of the Olympics just for it to be thrown out, and that would be disappointing.
