Weston Ranch High School soared past Gregori, 84-72, November 19 at Gregori High School. The victory over the Jaguars was the first for the young Cougars and the first win for new head coach Nicholas Podesta.
“Gregori was an excellent team, and we were ready to play from the opening tip-off,” Podesta told The Prowl.
Junior Elijah Mobley led the Cougars in scoring with 22 points. Elliot Mobley followed with 18, Richard Banks added 16, Kristian Holmes chipped in with 13, and Xavion Bell scored 11. Bell, Holmes, and Banks nailed four 3-pointers to spark the Cougars’ second-half offense in the third quarter.
“We still have a long way to go with this team, but there were certainly some positives, especially in the second half,” Podesta said. “I was happy with how our guys finished out the game.”
The Cougars travel to Elk Grove on November 22 for their matchup with Elk Grove High School. Tip-off for the varsity is scheduled for 7 pm.
