Ravi Kumar Toleti, a math teacher from India, made 1,776 origami peacocks, setting a new Guinness World Record on August 17, 2021.
“It was a challenging task, but my passion for origami was the driving force,” Toleti told the New Indian Express.
The project took 16 days of folding for around four hours each day and was then displayed at Kalamandir auditorium in the Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Trimulgherry, Secunderabad. This display earned him the Guinness World Record for the largest display of origami peacocks.
His reason for learning to make origamis was to teach math and science to his student. However, his passion for paper-folding art grew, and he decided to go after a Guinness World Record in origami. He said that he wanted to set a record with origami peacocks to pay tribute to India’s national bird.
