Cross Country Runners Still Looking for Finish Lines

Cross Country will send two runners to Saturday’s Section races. Freshman Janiah Basco and Junior Brian Arevalo will hit the road tomorrow, both with hopes of qualifying for the final State championships, which take place later this month.

Basco finished in 8th place last weekend at the Divisionals, where she clocked in at 20:20 for the 5K distance. She was one of two freshmen who competed in the varsity division and finished in the top 10.

Arevalo crossed the line in the boys’ 5K at 16:57 and finished 14th.

Coach Julio Nicaragua said, “Both Brian and Janiah have the potential to move on to State, so we’ll see if this is their last race on Saturday.”
