Spotlight on the Arts a Tremendous Hit

Last Tuesday the 9th, Spotlight on the Arts took over the campus. Hoping to display our school’s commitment to the Arts, students from our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) departments presented a fantastic event showcasing our creative students.

Spotlight on the Arts is a community event and hosted yearly in the spring. Students and clubs set up tables both inside and outside of the school and the turnout to view all the work was tremendous. Participating VAPA groups included Art I, Advanced Art, Ceramics, and digital photography. Students provided an art show, clothing lines, guitar, and piano recitals, as well as activities for kids, food, and fellowship.

As the community of students and residents strolled through the art show, they were also regaled with music provided by Mr. Barron and Ms. Checkett’s respective students. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to purchase food supplied for sale by individual clubs like JROTC, FCCLA, HOSA, Key Club, CSF, and FFA. Overall, it was a great time.

“It is a great event for the community, and I’m thankful for all of the community members and clubs that come out to support the Arts program,” a proud Ms. Stogner reflected.

In addition to the fun activities presented outside, all of those in attendance could go into the theater to view the various art projects, as well as listen to music and sing Karaoke if that suited your fancy.

Towards the end of the evening, attendees, students, and patrons of the arts were treated to a preview of our drama department’s upcoming show, “Annie.” Two musical numbers were performed and went off flawlessly.

“I was so happy we were able to do this,” said Stogner. “The students performed their backflips perfectly,” she added with a smile.

Colonel Cerezo, in charge of the JROTC booth, added, “There were so many activities, and it was terrific time promoting this event. The musical preview was great.”

Congratulations to the students and staff for pulling off a fantastic evening. Ms. Ferguson, Ms. Nunez, Ms. Stogner, Mr. Barron, and Ms. Checketts deserve many accolades for their support and guidance. Weston Ranch’s great demonstration in the field of the arts was amazing, and we roar.
