Art students at Weston Ranch High School will host the annual Spotlight for the Arts 4-6:30 p.m. April 11.
The spotlight is an event for visual and performing arts students to highlight their talents to family, friends and the Weston Ranch community. Last year, more than 200 people attended the spotlight soiree.
Art teacher Kira Eadington will host the spotlight.
Eadington said already she’s proud of the work produced by art students.
“This would be a good chance for the students to show how hard they’ve been working,” Eadington said.
But the showcase goes beyond the visual arts to spotlight student performers from the Drama Club, Key Club, Cheerleaders, Film Club, CSF, and many more. It also will include food, games and activities such as face painting, bean bag toss, popcorn, drama mask faces, flower/plant sales, and cupcakes.
Eadington said that she wanted to make it a community event where families can come and enjoy themselves, like the annual Trunk-Or-Treat we have during Halloween time.
“The students aren’t going to be selling their displays out of car trunks,” Eadington said, “but they will be displayed in a more professional manner where the art can be acknowledged and glorified.”
After the showcase, there will be a preview of the spring musical, The Little Mermaid.
