Getting that little black ball in at the end is, perhaps, the greatest satisfaction of 2016, and probably will even continue into 2017.
Of course, we’re talking about pool, but not the one with an actual cue. When Apple dropped iOS 10, they gave users a fun pastime at their fingertips.
Through their messaging app, people are now able to play a game with only the tap of “start.” To begin, one needs an Apple device with iOS 10 and above and the iMessage feature “on.” After that, Game Pigeon just needs to be installed.
Once the add-on is on the device, it’s smooth sailing from there. All that’s left is picking a game, and sending it. There’s over 20 games that can be played, but the notorious 8 Ball, which is probably based off the ever-so-popular Miniclip 8 Ball Pool mobile game (available for both Android and Apple), is, arguably, the best of the bunch. Here’s how to play:
1. Break the set. This means hit the white ball to separate the group in the middle of the board. If no balls are made into a pocket, or hole, the next person goes.
2. The next person hits any ball, except for the 8 Ball (black), into any pocket, to either get stripes or solids. This is the group that they will try to clear from the board throughout the game.
3. Next, both parties take turns trying to clear out their group of balls.
4. When one person has cleared their group, the final step is to pick a pocket, and sink the 8-ball in the pocket. The game is addicting, convenient, competitive, and just an overall great way to promote interaction between people even more than they already could through their phones. IDevices everywhere are disrupting classes and keeping everyone entertained for as long as the batteries last.
